Immigration Legal Services

CWS Harrisburg provides immigration legal services to support refugees and immigrants as they navigate complex U.S. immigration processes.

Our legal services are designed to help individuals and families move toward long-term stability, security, and lawful status. We currently focus on green card (adjustment of status) applications, assisting eligible clients with accurate filing, documentation, and guidance throughout the process.

Legal services are offered by trained staff and are integrated with CWS Harrisburg’s broader resettlement and support programs, ensuring clients receive coordinated, holistic care.

As community needs continue to evolve, CWS Harrisburg aims to expand legal service capacity to respond to emerging immigration challenges and barriers faced by the populations we serve.

Wellness & Mental Health Support

CWS Harrisburg’s Wellness services provide critical support to refugees and immigrants facing complex challenges related to trauma, resettlement stress, and long-term community integration.

With a strong focus on mental health and support for our most vulnerable neighbors, services include wellness education, individualized case management, mental health referrals and care coordination, and belonging-focused community events. These services are designed to strengthen stability, promote overall well-being, and support healthy pathways toward financial independence, educational and career success, and meaningful community engagement.

Wellness services are delivered in coordination with CWS Harrisburg’s broader resettlement and integration programs and are responsive to the evolving needs of individuals and families.

Economic Empowerment

CWS Harrisburg’s Economic Empowerment programs support refugees and immigrants as they work toward financial independence and meaningful employment.

Services range from early job readiness support—such as English language learning, résumé development, and connections to local employers—to longer-term case management focused on skill development, career advancement, and long-term stability. Depending on program eligibility, clients may receive employment and career support for up to five years after arrival.

Employment Specialists work closely with clients to identify goals, navigate the job search process, secure employment, and sustain success in the workforce. Services are tailored to each individual’s skills, experience, and circumstances, with an emphasis on dignity, self-sufficiency, and long-term opportunity.

Direct Client Assistance

CWS Harrisburg provides Direct Client Assistance to meet the immediate, practical needs of refugees and immigrants as they work toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Through holistic case management, clients are connected to essential supports, including reliable food access through CWS Harrisburg’s food pantry, which serves immigrant and refugee families in partnership with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and distributes approximately 1,000 pounds of food daily.

In addition to food support, Direct Client Assistance may include emergency rental assistance, transportation support, technology and household essentials, and other critical resources needed to stabilize families during periods of transition. These supports are paired with community connections and dedicated volunteer engagement to reduce barriers, promote dignity, and support successful long-term integration.
