Now help us secure the future.
An Invitation to Support Welcome
Church World Service Harrisburg has grown into a steady, trusted presence for refugee and immigrant families across Central Pennsylvania. Over the past four years, our work has evolved from initial resettlement to long-term support — helping families move from arrival to stability, and from uncertainty to opportunity.
Today, our focus is on the services that make the greatest difference over time. That includes expanding access to legal services so families can take important steps toward permanent status, and operating a high-impact food pantry that provides consistent, reliable food access for refugee and immigrant households — distributing close to 1,000 pounds of food each day. Together, these services help families put down roots and plan for the future.
Where Your Gift Goes
As needs continue to grow and systems remain complex, sustained community support allows us to strengthen the programs families rely on most and to plan thoughtfully for what comes next.
Legal Services to ensure Rights
Navigating U.S. immigration processes is complex — and for many families, the stakes could not be higher. Your gift helps fund affordable, trusted legal services that guide refugees and immigrants toward long-term stability and lawful status. CWS Harrisburg’s immigration legal team supports clients across a wide range of immigration matters, providing guidance on applications, accurate filings, and documentation—ensuring individuals and families can navigate these critical steps with confidence and care.
Helps a family transport to legal appointments, fingerprinting, or required check-ins.
Covers copying, translation, postage, and other document-related costs needed for immigration applications.
Helps cover childcare and transportation so caregivers can attend legal appointments and interviews.
Supports multiple costs related to a family’s legal case, reducing barriers as they move through the immigration process.

Integration for Long-Term Success
Stability is built day by day, need by need. Our Direct Client Assistance program connects refugee and immigrant families to the practical resources that make a real difference during times of transition. At the heart of this work is our food pantry, operated in partnership with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, which distributes approximately 1,000 pounds of food daily to families in our community. Beyond food, support may include emergency rental assistance, transportation, household essentials, and dedicated case management — because no family should face these challenges alone.
